Insurance
UCSC offers a health plan specifically designed for the needs of students. The Undergraduate Student Health Insurance Plan (USHIP) and Graduate Student Health Insurance Plan (GSHIP) are efficient, low-cost plans featuring excellent year-round, worldwide coverage with a low deductible. USHIP and GSHIP also include a pre-paid access component which provides unlimited Student Health Center visits for care of illness or injury, including Health Center lab and X-ray. All students are automatically enrolled in USHIP / GSHIP unless an insurance waiver is submitted.
For students waiving the university sponsored health insurance UCSC offers CruzCare, an inexpensive pre-paid access plan for busy students seeking on campus health care. For $75 a quarter (billed automatically to the student's account) CruzCare provides unlimited Student Health Center visits for care of illness or injury, including Health Center lab and X-ray.
