September 26, 2019

Hey, UC SHIP students! Need to get your vaccinations? You can now get them at Safeway, Walgreens, and Rite-Aid—100% covered by UC SHIP!

Where to go: Any pharmacy that accepts Optum Pharmacy benefits like Safeway, Walgreens, RiteAid, etc. We don't currently recommend CVS.

Which vaccines you can get:

  • Mandatory (required) vaccines:
    • Measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR)
    • Varicella (chickenpox)
    • Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (Tdap)
    • Meningococcal Conjugate
  • Optional vaccines, such as:
    • Flu
    • Hepatits
    • HPV

What to bring: Use your insurance app to show the pharmacy your insurance card.

What to do afterward: Let us know that you got vaccinated. To do this, you must upload the immunization record to Health e-Messenger. Here's how:

  • Mandatory vaccines: Log into Health e-Messenger (studenthealth.ucsc.com) with your gold password. From the left menu, select Message, then New Message, then Proof of Immunization to Immunization Clinician. Attach your immunization document there.
  • Optional vaccinations: Log into Health e-Messenger (studenthealth.ucsc.com) with your gold password. From the left menu, select Immunization/TB Upload and upload your record there.
