Off-Campus Students Coming to Campus

Are you a student living off-campus who plans to drop by UCSC?

If so, then you are required to register for the COVID-19 symptom screening and testing reminders as described in the Student COVID-19 page, even if you're vaccinated. See the full protocol here.

What to do: Complete this registration form to sign up for screening and testing reminders. When you complete the screening linked in your reminder email or text, a clearance badge is generated for you on Health e-Messenger. This badge allows you access to on-campus locations and buildings.

Due date: At least one week before you come to campus.

What to bring: your smartphone to show your Clearance Badge on Health e-Messenger. If you don’t have a smartphone, staff can look up your name to find your badge.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to continue the screenings and tests if I’m no longer coming to campus? No. Go back to the registration form to change your status and stop the notifications. Click the link and choose "Edit Response"

Update form instructions with screenshots. The instructions say "You've already responded. You can fill out this form only once. Try contacting the owner of the form if you think this is a mistake." Then there is a link to edit your response. This is the link you would click on to update your response.

Then change your answer as needed and submit the form again. You may see a pop-up notice telling you to edit your response. You can ignore it - it will take you to the same "Edit Your Response" screen.

What counts as “campus”? In addition to all buildings and spaces within the UCSC campus boundaries, “campus” also includes off-site locations for UCSC-sponsored programs, meetings, and field research.

Should I come to campus if I’m feeling ill?  No. If you have COVID-19 symptoms, stay home and contact Student Health Services at (831) 459-2591 or your primary healthcare provider.

Does this protocol apply to me if I am an off-campus student and never come to campus?  No. For your safety and the safety of your community, please follow basic COVID-19 such as masking, social distancing, and avoiding gatherings. If you ever do come to campus, follow the instructions on this page.

How do I get a COVID-19 test if I'm an off-campus student and can't get to campus easily?

See the information on alternative testing sites in California. If you live in another state, we urge you to check with your county's Department of Health website.
