What is Shigellosis?
Shigellosis is an illness caused by bacteria called Shigella that cause diarrhea in humans. Shigellosis can be quite severe, especially in young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Shigella spreads VERY EASILY from one person to another. Symptoms can include diarrhea, fever, and cramping. |
